The Scottish Charity Regulator is looking for some to take up the role from March 2019, to replace outgoing chairman Rev Dr Graham Forbes
The Scottish Charity Regulator is on the hunt for a new chairperson.
OSCR is looking for someone to take up the role from the spring, to lead the organisation through a period which it says will present challenges and opportunities for the organisation and sector.
The successful candidate will take over from Rev Dr Graham Forbes CBE, who will have completed two terms as chairman.
Dr Forbes said: “I have very much enjoyed being chair, and it has been a privilege to work with our diverse board as we help shape the direction of travel for OSCR. We believe in light-touch, proportionate regulation to support charity trustees in their important work. Supported by our excellent staff team, OSCR continues to make a significant and very positive impact on the sector in Scotland, and on wider public confidence.
“The job requires someone who is passionate about the charity sector and can enthuse others. I would encourage anyone who is interested to apply. I am sure the successful candidate will find OSCR an exciting organisation which exercises its unique role in helping promote Scotland’s flourishing charity sector.”
The regulator has said applicants will be expected to be able to demonstrate leadership and influencing skills, a good knowledge of the charity landscape including the key issues facing charities in Scotland, as well as an understanding of the wider political environment.
Communities secretary Aileen Campbell MSP said the role is an important one for Scotland’s third sector.
She said: “This is a really exciting opportunity to lead the Scottish Charity Regulator during a period which will present both opportunities and challenges for the organisation and the sector.
“We are looking for an individual with excellent leadership skills, who can inspire others, and who is passionate about a strong charity sector in Scotland. If you think you have the skills, knowledge and passion for this important role and can support OSCR to drive forward its vision of charities the public have confidence and trust in, we would love to hear from you.”
More information about the post can be found on the Goodmoves site. The appointment is made by Scottish Ministers, and the application window closes on Friday 23 November.
