The Doctor Who star is set to help raise funds at an event which generates funds for CHAS

Former Doctor Who star Peter Capaldi is set to raise funds for a children’s charity.

The Thick of It actor will be making a special appearance at Edinburgh’s Capital Sci-Fi Con on Saturday February 16, to help generate much needed funds for Children’s Hospices Across Scotland (CHAS).

All funds raised from the convention – which is in its fourth year – are donated to CHAS, which cares for children with life-shortening conditions and their families across the whole of Scotland.

Capaldi will be further boosting the funds by donating the entire proceeds of autograph sales to CHAS.

He said: “CHAS is an incredible charity and I’m proud they have invited me to my first ever Scottish fan event.”

Laura Campbell, senior fundraiser at CHAS, said: “We’re so excited that Peter will be attending Capital Sci-Fi Con 2019. He’s a huge star and it’s fantastic he has chosen to support CHAS and help us with our mission of reaching every family across Scotland who is facing the unimaginable, that their child is going to die.

“Peter’s incredible generosity of donating his whole autograph fee will mean we will be closer to reaching our target of smashing last year’s £74,000 total. Tickets to the convention are selling fast so make sure you get yours!

Star Wars and Harry Potter star Warwick Davis is also on the bill for the event, which takes place at the Corn Exchange from 15 – 17 February.
