Event marks the end of this year's Ramadan
An Islamic organisation will give some £17,000 to charities to celebrate the community spirit of the Muslim festival of Ramadan.
The Ahmadiyya Muslim Elders Association Scotland (AMEAS) will be holding its Beacon of Peace Scotland Charity Cheque Presentation and Iftar Dinner on Sunday March 16 at the Baitur Rahman Mosque Complex, in the West end of Glasgow.
This special occasion will highlight the presentation of funds raised during the 2024 Beacon of Peace Scotland 5K Fun Walk/Run, organised by AMEA Scotland.
Funds raised last year, to the tune of almost £17,000 will be distributed to beneficiary charities in Scotland, emphasising the community's commitment to supporting those in need, including the poor and vulnerable.
Ahmad Owusu-Konadu, chairman of Beacon of Peace Scotland, said: “We are thrilled to host this event, which embodies the spirit of charity in Islam and our motto, 'Love for all, hatred for none. '
“It is an opportunity to recognise and support the essential work of our Scottish charities and other charities serving in deprived parts of the world and also thank our partners, volunteers, supporters and contributors of Beacon of Peace Scotland Charity.”
