First open board meeting will take place on Tuesday, 12 June at Compass House in Dundee
Members of the public will be allowed to attend board meetings of Scotland’s charity regulator.
The Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator (OSCR) has announced it will open itself up to allow people to see its decision making process.
Its first open board meeting will take place on Tuesday, 12 June at Compass House in Dundee.
While the majority of the discussions will take place during the open session there will be some subjects discussed in private, for reasons of sensitivity and confidentiality, such as the progress of ongoing inquiries.
The Very Reverend Dr Graham Forbes, chair of the OSCR board, said: “Our corporate values include transparency and having open board meetings is another great way for OSCR to engage with its stakeholders.
“We have published minutes from our board meetings for some time but we felt there was more we could do to share the board’s collective thinking around our decisions.
“I would like to encourage anyone who is interested to come along. We will make every effort to speak about as much as we can publicly, and look forward to discussing these matters in front of everyone who can attend.”
The regulator holds five meetings a year, usually at its Dundee office, with details about each meeting published on its website.
OSCR asked members of the public who would like to attend a meeting to email [email protected] and put “open board meeting” in the subject line.
