The charity will now be known as Scottish Action for Mental Health.

A leading Scottish mental health charity has announced it has changed its name to better reflect its work.

On Wednesday, SAMH - Scotland’s largest mental health charity - said it would now be known as Scottish Action for Mental Health.

The charity previously operated as Scottish Association for Mental Health, but have said action is “what is needed for Scotland’s mental health today, tomorrow and in the future”.

SAMH said the new name comes with a fresh look, featuring classic SAMH elements with a modern twist.

In a statement on the charity’s website, they said: “As our centenary year draws to a close, we have been thinking about the future. Looking forward to the next century, our name has changed to better reflect what we do.

“Our new name is accompanied by a fresh look that encompasses all the things that people love about the SAMH brand with some modern twists. But we want to do more than we have ever done to take action for Scotland’s mental health.

“We must innovate, change and evolve to be here for people who need us now and for those who will need us in the future.”
