Several members of staff from Scottish voluntary organisations have been recognised at the Social CEOs

Scottish voluntary sector staff have been recognised for embracing social media.

The Social CEO awards, which recognise people who use social media to drive change, took place at Launch22 in London yesterday (Thursday 21 November).

And a strong Scottish contingent was recognised at the awards. Maddie Stark of the Scottish Council for Voluntary Organisations (SCVO) was named Best Digital Champion, whilst Sarah Robertson of YouthLink Scotland was picked as Best Rising Star. SCVO’s Sally Dyson was also highly commended in the Best Digital Leader category.

For the second year running, the judges chose 25 rather than 30 CEOs as they felt that those selected were exemplary Social CEOs. Polly Neate from Shelter was named the Best CEO on Social Media.

The awards are now in their seventh year. Co-founder Zoe Amar said, “Our judges were impressed by how this year’s winners are using digital to grow their charity’s networks, discuss the great work their charities are doing and to talk about impact. All of our winners show how digital is an essential core skill for charity leaders, and vital to all aspects of their work. We hope that 2019’s winners will inspire their peers to be bold, creative and resilient in their online presences.”

A full list of winners is available on the Social CEOs website.
