New board members come from backgrounds in finance, advocacy, social services, PR and property.

Social care charity Quarriers has announced the appointment of six new trustees.

The new members come from a variety of backgrounds including finance, advocacy, social services, PR and property.

Each will work with the charity on a voluntary basis.

The new board members are: Linda Bailey (Partners in Advocacy), Marjorie Calder (OceanBlue), Alan Frizzell (Edrington Group), Andrew Kubski (City Property), Murray Leys (social services consultant) and George Peacock (British Red Cross Society).

Alice Harper, Quarriers chief executive, said: “With a large and diverse portfolio of services, Quarriers needs a board of trustees which reflects its needs and our new trustees will be of great benefit to the charity’s governance and strategic ambitions.

“Due to ever-changing external factors, we are constantly reviewing how we work, and with the collective expertise now at our disposal we are in a great position to continue to change and adapt to meet the needs of health and social care.

“It is fantastic we can work so closely with our board of trustees who have such a wide range of skills and knowledge and we are extremely grateful for their voluntary support which, ultimately, helps us optimise outcomes for the people we support.”

Tom Scholes OBE, chair of Quarriers’ board of trustees, welcomed the appointments.

He said: “The trustees are such an important part of everything Quarriers does and I’m very pleased with the calibre of those joining the board.

“They will bring invaluable experience and expertise to an already impressive team and I look forward to working closely with them all to ensure Quarriers remains at the forefront of Scotland’s third sector.”
