New mag looks at Band Aid 40, the National Insurance hike, the Scottish budget and much more
TFN magazine’s last edition of 2024 is now out – and you can read it all here.
As always, it’s been a tumultuous year, and in this final mag of 2024, we continue our coverage of the impact the rise in employers’ National Insurance will have on a dangerously overloaded voluntary sector.
Related fiscal issues are never far from the fore, and we also look at reaction to the Scottish budget – spoiler alert: reader, we feel underwhelmed.
For our cover story we’ve gone for something a wee bit different, and have used the launch of Band Aid 40 to explore the debate around this form of charity issue and fundraising. Is it still appropriate four decades on? Are the critics right when they say it reinforces “colonial tropes”?
We also have a report from an observer at the Cop29 climate talks in Baku and a look at calls for much needed charity banking reform.
You will find all of that in this month as well as TFN's usual line up of excellent columnists and features.
And don’t forget - if you work for a member or supporter organisation, why not set up an account so you can access members only content such as the full archive, TFN app and exclusive content.
