Charlatans frontman surprises charity by donating signed goods and then tweeting fans
Indie rock star Tim Burgess had people rushing to an Edinburgh charity shop after tweeting he had donated some signed goods there.
The lead singer of the Charlatans left his haul, which included a signed copy of his biography Tim Book Two and double album soundtrack on vinyl, at the British Heart Foundation (BHF) store on Shandwick Place.
Within minutes of sending out the tweet (above) the goods were snapped up by a lucky fan for the bargain price of £30.
BHF staff said they were delighted to have been given the goods by Burgess, who was in the city for an event at the Edinburgh Book Festival, and congratulated ‘Michael’ who purchased them.
Store assistant manager Coral Short said: “It’s really fantastic that Tim has chosen to support our shop and I’d like to say a massive thank you on behalf of everyone at the BHF.”
The Shandwick Place store is no stranger to a celebrity donation.
Earlier this year golfer Lee Westwood stunned staff as he donated over 100 items of sportswear and made the charity over £1650 in just two days.
