This year's calendar of events will highlight that volunteering is for everyone
Plans for Scotland’s annual volunteering celebration are underway.
This year’s Volunteers’ Week aims to show that volunteering is for everyone.
The tagline for the seven-day calendar of events is Volunteering for All, with the thousands of opportunities across the country – from online schemes to community-based activities – being highlighted.
Volunteers’ Week – which takes place between 1 – 7 June – supports organisations to celebrate the work of their supporters and encourages volunteers to share their own stories.
The Scottish Volunteering Forum – which includes Volunteer Scotland, Children 1st, ProjectScotland, the Scottish Council for Voluntary Organisations, Voluntary Action Scotland, Chest, Heart and Stroke Scotland, and Befriending Networks - is encouraging organisations to start planning for the week.
Lauren Pluss from ProjectScotland and the Scottish Volunteering Forum, said: “Last year’s Volunteers’ Week was a huge success and we’re looking forward to building on that in 2018 to help demonstrate that volunteering is for all.
“For organisations, this is a great opportunity to demonstrate the diverse range of people that volunteer as well as the opportunities that they have available. Helping to celebrate existing volunteers’ work while encouraging more people to consider how volunteering can fit in with their lifestyle.”
Last year a range of events - from community celebration ceremonies to large volunteer gatherings – took place across the country.
Information on the week and ideas on events that can be hosted will be available on the Volunteer Scotland website from next week.
