Prestigious awards name two third sector winners
Inspiring Scotland and Routes to Work South have been named as Scotland’s most family friendly third sector employers.
The award was made in front of a 150 strong audience made up from leaders from all sectors at the Working Families Awards.
They celebrate progressive organisations that recognise that family friendly and flexible working brings benefits to employees, while also delivering high performance and successful businesses.
Through family friendly working practices employers have found that they can achieve increased productivity and performance, reduced absenteeism, better morale and well-being, as well as improving staff retention and recruitment.
Commenting on winning the award, Celia Tennant, Inspiring Scotland chief executive, said: "Being a family friendly employer has always been central to our culture and the way we look after our people and I am delighted we have been recognised for it. These awards help to show that offering family friendly and flexible working creates an environment which good for staff and good for businesses."
Minister for childcare and early years, Mark McDonald, said: "I congratulate all the finalists of the Scottish Top Employers for Working Families Awards and I particularly commend the winners: it really is an accolade to be proud of.
"It is extremely positive to see so many of Scotland’s employers – both large and small – recognising the social and economic benefits of creating a family friendly workplace culture. Not only is it good for workers and families but it is also good for business and boosts productivity."
Sarah Jackson, chief executive of Working Families and chair of the judging panel, added: "The quality of entries was exceptional this year and it is apparent that organisations of all sizes and sectors across Scotland are wholeheartedly embracing family friendly flexible working. There is a clear understanding of the benefits this brings to business, family life, society and the economy.
"Finalists demonstrate success and impact as a result of implementing a family friendly approach and there was also a deep understanding of the link between flexibility and high performance."
