Applications for the next round of UK Aid Match will open next month, it has been announced.

Charities working to bring the world’s most vulnerable people out of poverty or fight the effects of climate change have been invited to submit bids for funding from August 20.

Successful applicants will receive £1 of UK Government money for every pound donated by the public.

Over the last five years 42 organisations from across the country have run UK Aid Match projects in 27 developing countries, helping around 25 million people.

Announcing the latest round of funding, international development minister Baroness Sugg said: “I am proud to announce the opening of the next round of UK Aid Match – the programme which gives the British public a say in how the aid budget is spent.

“We continue to welcome applications from charities that help us achieve at least one of the Global Goals. In particular, we would love to see applications focused on addressing one of the most pressing issues of our time: climate.

“Our previous UK Aid Match appeals have already helped more than 200,000 children to go to primary school globally and provided pregnant women and mothers with nutritional support and antenatal care. There is no doubt that doubling the generous donations of the British public will strengthen our efforts to achieve the global goals and reduce the impact of climate change for those who are most at risk.”

Information on how to apply is available on the UK Aid Match website. The funding round will be open for 12 weeks.
