Unicef campaign hopes to raise awareness of harrowing future faced by millions of children around the world

Unicef has released three short films focusing on the emotional plight of children who inspired a recent campaign.

These videos follow up on a campaign the charity ran in November titled These children's lives will never be the same which features parents seeing their own children suffering in the same way children in Nepal and Syria have suffered.

In the follow up videos we hear from Sumitra, 12, who has a unique story, as she is one of the children in danger who was saved from a life of domestic slavery and potential trafficking when the second earthquake struck Nepal on 12 May 2015.

The conflict in Syria turned 14-year-old Bassam’s world upside down.

His mother was killed and he also witnessed his cousin’s hand being blown off.

After such horrific experiences, Bassam became withdrawn and angry but he found hope in the most unlikely way...wrestling.

And Marwa and Aya’s were forced to flee their home in Syria when their town was shelled and their school was hit by a bomb.

They are now living in Za’atari Refugee camp and are back at school thanks to Unicef-supported classes.

Unicef UK is calling on the UK government to prioritise protecting children from violence, seizing the opportunity presented by the first World Humanitarian Summit next year.
