Signpost will close its doors after more than 22 years of work in the area.
A West Lothian charity has announced it is to close its doors at the end of next month, warning of changing circumstances and funding issues affecting organisations in Scotland.
Signpost, based in Livingston, will shut on March 31 after it began as a volunteer group in 2000.
The charity provides information for carers of young people with disabilities or additional support needs in West Lothian.
In a statement published this week, the charity said that they have struggled to navigate the many changes which have taken place since the pandemic began, including the current funding situation.
Signpost is the latest in a spate of charities which have announced their planned closure in recent months, as the running costs crisis hits charities across Scotland.
Those behind Signpost have said that they intend to continue running the current website until at least 2025, with useful information, links and resources available to those in need.
The group wrote: “We are sad to announce that the trustees of Signpost have reluctantly decided that Signpost will close on 31 March 2023. In common with many small charities in the last few years, we have struggled to navigate the many changes which have taken place since the pandemic began, including the current funding situation.
“We recognise that many families who have been helped by Signpost may be worried and upset by this news. We are doing our best to ensure that support will continue to be available through partner agencies after March 2023.
“The past 22 years have shown Signpost the tremendous resilience of families whose children have additional support needs and we are proud to have helped so many of you to achieve the best life possible for your children and yourselves. We are proud to have been able to play a part in building a brighter future for children with additional support needs in West Lothian.
“We would like to offer heart-felt thanks to all the staff, trustees, supporters and other organisations who have contributed to our success over the last 22 years.”
