​The event recognises how leading women have inspired individuals and good causes

Action for Children Scotland has announced the shortlist for its 17th annual Woman of Influence Award.

This year’s nominees are: Caroline Rush CBE, chief executive officer of the British Fashion Council; Amanda McMillan, managing director of Glasgow Airport; Dr Catherine Calderwood, chief medical officer for the Scottish Government; Alison Di Rollo, solicitor General for Scotland; and Judy Murray, tennis coach.

The award recognises Scottish women who have had an impact on society and are role models to disadvantaged children, young people, and families the charity supports.

To date, the event has raised more than £1.1 million to support the charity’s work with disadvantaged children, young people and families across Scotland.

The winner will be announced on the day by event host Cat Cubie at an awards luncheon at The Grand Central Hotel in Glasgow on Sunday, 19 March.

Paul Carberry, director of Action for Children Scotland, said: “The Woman of Influence Award recognises women who have made a real impact in Scotland and beyond. We believe they are an inspiration to the next generation of women in Scotland, and outstanding role models for the young women we support at our 84 services across Scotland.

“This event has raised more than £1m for Action for Children Scotland since it was first launched in 2001. This makes a huge difference to the lives of the disadvantaged children and young people that Action for Children supports – all whilst celebrating the successes of inspirational women in Scotland.”
