Women of all ages and sporting abilities wanted to pull on their trainers to run, walk or jog around the south side of the city.
Macmillan is urging women to get their running shoes on and sign up for one of the most popular fundraisers of the year – the Morrisons Great Women’s 10K being held in Glasgow on 17 May.
Volunteers Katie Bruce and Hannah Carruth (pictured) hit the streets of Glasgow to call for runners to join them to raise funds for the charity.
The cancer charity needs at least 250 runners to take part in the event to help them support the 39 people a day in the west of Scotland who hear the news that they have cancer.
Glasgow fundraising manager Eloise Armstrong said: “Macmillan relies almost entirely on donations to fund our vital cancer services so we want as many people as possible to take on this run for us.
“By joining us you’ll get fantastic support before the event with your training and fundraising, and on the day there will be people there to cheer you on.
“We’ve had a lot of feedback from runners who tell us that at their lowest points, it was their Macmillan team-mates and Macmillan cheerers in the crowd who kept them going, so we know runners get a lot from being part of our team.”
All the money raised from the run will be used to fund Macmillan's cancer services, from specialist nurses and doctors, to help and advice for people who have financial problems as a result of their cancer.
Armstrong added: “We want to make sure no one has to face cancer alone but we can't do it without the amazing people who fundraise for us.
“Taking on a running challenge like this will make you feel good. However doing it for Macmillan will make you feel fantastic.”
