Protect your charity against cyber threats

This opinion piece is over 2 years old

Half of all charities surveyed in the National Cyber Security Centre and Charity Digital’s recent survey admitted they’re likely to suffer a cyber-attack.

Over a quarter of the same charities do not have a plan in place in the event of a cyber-attack. With the recent news of Scottish charities becoming a target of sophisticated cyber-attacks, organisations must be proactive in order to stay resilient. The Scottish Business Resilience Centre is urging charities across Scotland to take action in securing their cyber health and are offering a plethora of free resources and events.

Sign-up your organisation now for a FREE, non-technical interactive webinar, “Introduction to Cyber & Incident Response” on 30th Mar at 10amWebinar Registration

Over the past few months in an attempt to close the gap, SBRC has been hosting a multitude of free webinars that are tailored towards Scottish third sector organisations. These were introductory courses on general cyber security and incident response. Due to demand, SBRC will be facilitating another third sector specific webinar on the 30th of March at 10am.

This will be a 2-hour long session, where expert Ethical Hackers will be facilitating, and presenting both the Introduction to Cyber Learning webinar and the Introduction to Incident Response. Allowing organisations an opportunity to have not yet had a chance to see both or either to see them. The content that we will be covering includes:

  • Cyber-crime & how charities are at risk
  • Passwords
  • Phishing
  • Ransomware
  • Mitigations
  • What incident response is
  • Method of response

Find out more on the content: here

Finally, SBRC has also been offering a free curated 1-to-1 consultation service to those who attended the webinars and completed an SCVO survey. This will once again be offered on the 30th March for those to complete. However, the last day to book is the 31st of March. This will be discussed again during the webinar for those attending, but those interested must come along in order to retrieve the link.
