Scotland is in the grip of a potentially devastating flu outbreak, placing the NHS and social care services under immense strain.
It has led to calls for the mandatory vaccination of all health workers.
However, vaccination is not popular with some who, whatever the evidence, question its safety. News this week that France will make it compulsory for all parents to have their children vaccinated have led some to claim human rights could be violated.
In the UK, vaccination levels for measles have only recently returned to previous levels after fake research led to a scare story about a non-existent link to autism.
So vaccination is clearly a fraught issue.
