The president of the US is an out and out climate change denier and we've reached Co2 levels never recorded before in human history. Are we all doomed?

The election of Donald Trump as US president will have many consequences – not least on the environment.

We’re in a situation where the holder of the most powerful office on the planet is a climate change denier – who has pledged to withdraw US support for the Paris deal aimed at reducing carbon emissions.

This at a time when levels of Co2 in the atmosphere have reached levels unprecedented in human history and scientists predict we are either on the brink of or in the middle of a mass extinction event.

What can be done – in fact, can anything be done, or is it all too late? Are you an optimist, a pessimist or a flat-out denier?

Take our poll – and get the debate going by leaving a comment!

Technology will give us the opportunity to reduce emmissions regardless of goverment policy. It will soon become cheaper to generate electricity by solar and store it, electric vehicles will become cheaper and more efficient.it will simply make economic sense to use renewable energy
