Working with and responding to traumatised individuals
Aim
To explore how to work with and respond to traumatised individuals while maintaining a trauma informed relationship.
The workshop will enable participants to:
• Understand the ways trauma impacts on people and explore the complexities they can bring to the relationship.
• Understand presence and how it benefits recovery.
• Acknowledge the safety needs of the traumatised individuals and recognise signs and symptoms which are indicative of ongoing trauma and abuse.
• Be aware of the risk of further trauma or revictimization.
• Understand the benefits of and how to support individuals affected by trauma to communicate their story, where appropriate
• Understand the ideas and concepts behind the "window of tolerance".
• Be able to relate the trauma informed principles to your practice.
• Understand the importance informal and formal support, including regular supervision.
This online training is made up of two 2¼ hour sessions with a 15-minute break. This training will be on Tuesday, 12 March 2024 from 9.30 am to 11.45 am and 1.00 pm to 3.15 pm.
