SCCS & SCCAN: Climate Action in Scotland: What You Can Do
Scottish Communities Climate Action Network (SCCAN)
This event is in the past
Stop Climate Chaos Scotland and SCCAN are hosting an online session to join and coordinate efforts in campaigning and taking action towards climate resilience and justice in Scotland.
Hear from inspirational and motivational speakers:
Laura Young (Less Waste Laura): Award-winning climate activist, environmental scientist and ethical influencer, Laura has made a big contribution to environmental education and campaigning efforts through the medium of social media. Hear the story behind her successful grassroots campaigns of banning disposable vapes.
Global Justice Now: Liz Murray, head of Scottish campaigns at Global Justice Now, will talk about the growing campaign for a Fossil Fuel Non-Proliferation Treaty – a global exit plan from coal, oil and gas – to address the root cause of the climate emergency in a fast, fair and financed way. Hear what role Scotland can play in this, and what you can do locally.
Friends of the Earth Scotland and the Peterhead Campaign - A campaign to reject the plans for a new gas burning power station in Peterhead, in the Aberdeenshire. Developers SSE and Equinor are asking for permission to expand the existing power station in Peterhead (already labelled Scotland’s biggest polluter for the last 5 years in a row).
Share campaigns and clear actions to take!
This is an open event for SCCAN and SCCS members and others who, like us, are committed to taking effective and meaningful climate action to protect ourselves, our homes, our biosphere, and future generations from the most devastating effects of climate change and environmental degradation.
