Lobbying Transparency: Impacts and Improvements
Transparency International UK
Join TI-UK to consider how we might better understand the influencing which holds back progress on some of the key issues of our time, with a focus at this event on climate change. Although there is an inherent value in lobbying transparency in and of itself, what does the transparency tell us? How can we use that information to improve our ways of working and our understanding of voice, influence and accountability? And what more might be useful for us to know?
Come and hear about how Scotland’s lobbying transparency register allows us to see more of what goes on behind closed doors than at Westminster, for instance giving us insights into lobbying around the Deposit Return Scheme (https://www.transparency.org.uk/news/spirited-away-what-do-we-know-about-demise-scotlands-deposit-return-scheme) and into the influence of the oil and gas sector (https://www.transparency.org.uk/publications/power-politics).
There will also be a chance to discuss whether our ideas for improvements would be useful, and hear an update from the lobbying registrar on some planned upgrades.
