The charity that exists to preserve and restore the iconic Maid of the Loch as a working paddle steamer on Loch Lomond has announced the appointment of a new high profile chairman to help raise £1.7 million by August 2017. Robin Naysmith, formerly Scotland's diplomatic representative in Washington DC and a senior civil servant in the Scottish Government, has taken over the helm of the Loch Lomond Steamship Company, as it enters the next stage of a £7m journey to get the Maid of the Loch sailing again.

Glasgow Science Centre has announced Dr David Sibbald OBE as its new chair. David iscurrently the executive chair of Aridhia and board chair of Sumerian, two growing tech companies, andhas a great deal of experience of bringing his entrepreneurial experience to third sector organisations.He said:"I like that the science centre helps to democratise science. The centre is more than just a visitor centre - it will draw people through who might otherwise be turned off or scared of science. I believe that this outstanding venue will play a key role in driving forward education around the need to attract more people into science and engaging kids, parents and teachers is part of that."

Youth Scotland has confirmed Dona Milne has been appointed its new chair for the next three years. Dona is a consultant at NHS Lothian and works in the area of children and young people’s wellbeing and in the broader area of reducing inequalities.Dona said:“Youth Scotland holds a unique position within the voluntary youth work sector as the largest youth work membership organisation in Scotland.I would like to support Youth Scotland to strengthen this position and provide support for youth work through a clear focus on growing community based youth work and developing the Youth Scotland Network.”
