One Big Picnic will be held in Glasgow on 3 September

A huge picnic is being held to strengthen community links.

Organisations from throughout Glasgow have been invited to take part in One Big Picnic, which will be held in George Square on Sunday 3 September from noon till 4pm.

The free event is open to the general public and is aimed at allowing people and different groups to come together, share food, talk and share understanding regardless of background, religion, sexual orientation or social status.

The event has been organised by local groups who have been brought together by the Interfaith Food Justice Network.

Abi Mordin, of Glasgow Local Food Network, said: “Community-led projects from across Glasgow will be coming together to share their food with the public, and the message that the people of Glasgow make Glasgow a great city.”

Food will be provided by community-led projects from across the city, such as The Little Sourdough Bakery and SEVA Scotland.

Craig Campbell from Humanist Society Scotland said: "We are delighted to be taking part in this event, bringing together many different communities to celebrate everything that makes Glasgow such a unique, diverse and friendly city."
