Millions will tune in from across the globe as top acts perform in memory of revered musician
Charities are set to cash in from a David Bowie tribute concert to be streamed live worldwide.
In exchange for a small donation, Skype users will be able to watch the evening of tributes, which will include Mumford & Sons, Blondie and the Flaming Lips.
The Music Of David Bowie concert will take place in New York’s iconic Radio City Music Hall on 1 April with 18 artists performing Bowie classics in tribute to the late musician, who died in January.
Tony Visconti, Bowie’s producer, is also expected to take to the stage.
Viewers will be asked to donate a minimum of £15 via the fundraising platform ammado, which will be given to a range of arts, music and education charities.
“Due to unprecedented interest in the David Bowie memorial concert in Radio City, we have teamed up with Skype and Ammado to stream the concert around the world, in return for a small donation to our charity partners,” reads a statement on the memorial’s official site. “We suggest a minimum donation equivalent to $20, or £15.”
