Campaigning charity has new chief executive

Fraser Sutherland has been with the charity since 2017

Humanist Society Scotland has announced the appointment of its new chief executive.

Fraser Sutherland has been with the charity since 2017 in the role of campaigns and communications manager, leading the organisation's campaigning and public affairs work.

Before joining Humanist Society Scotland he worked in roles Citizens Advice Scotland and the Scottish Parliament.

He lives in Falkirk with his wife and Jack Russell terrier.

Sutherland will take over the role from the outgoing chief executive Gordon MacRae on Monday, 20 May.

John Bishop, chair of Humanist Society Scotland, said: "We are delighted to have Fraser take on the role of chief executive.

"We all look forward to having him lead the work of the society given his passion for Humanism and the Society's charitable work."

Sutherland said: "I am extremely excited to be taking on this new challenge with Humanist Society Scotland.

"I am really proud to be part of an organisation which has made significant positive changes in Scottish public life and continues to be a strong voice for human rights and equality.

“I look forward to working closely with all our members and supporters in the years to come."
