​A board meeting will discuss his position this week

Under-fire royal Prince Andrew looks set to be ditched by a charity that works with young people.

He could be asked to step down as patron for the Outward Bound Trust as anger grows over his behaviour during an interview with BBC Newsnight about his relationship with paedophile financier Jeffery Epstein.

The prince has been castigated for failing to show empathy with the victims of Epstein – who he was close friends with.

There are also allegations – which have been denied – that he had sex with a 17 year old who had been trafficked for sex.

The trust, which is registered as a charity in Scotland and which takes young people on wilderness adventure and learning trips, said it would hold a board meeting this week.

On the agenda will be the prince’s future as its patron.

His daughter, Princess Beatrice, is a trustee but will not attend because of a conflict of interest.

Prince Andrew was appointed patron of the trust in March after his father, the Duke of Edinburgh, retired from the role.

He was previously a patron for the NSPCC’s Full Stop campaign, which ended in 2009, and is no longer involved with the charity.
