Barnardo's Scotland has launched a new scheme which allows volunteers to gain qualifications
Charity shop volunteers are being given the chance to boost their skills.
Barnardo’s Scotland is offering volunteers the opportunity to gain nationally accredited qualifications through a range of courses.
Launched last month, helpers in Barnardo’s stores throughout the country can now choose from a range of Level 2 qualification courses. Popular choices include mental health awareness, understanding autism, customer service knowledge, team leading knowledge and principles of business and administration.
The charity’s volunteer recruitment manager Billy Farrell said: “We’re incredibly excited to be able to offer yet another great incentive to volunteer in our stores throughout Scotland. And there are already 30 learners signed up to the courses.
“We simply could not run our stores without our amazing volunteers, so it’s great to be able to give them something in return for their selfless dedication. Funded through a partnership with West Scotland College, it means it’s a free and flexible way to gain a recognised qualification while making a real contribution to children and young people in your community.”
Facilitated by AP4U and jointly delivered by West College Scotland and Learning Curve Group, the courses generally take 16 weeks to complete but learners are encouraged to work at their own pace.
