Elma Murray, chief executive of North Ayrshire Council, has been named as the new chair of Young Scot, Scotland’s youth information and citizenship charity. Elma was appointed at the recent Young Scot annual general meeting, taking over from Sue Bruce who was chair for the past five years. She will be starting the role immediately. Elma was appointed chief executive of North Ayrshire Council in 2009, working to transform it into one of the top performing local authorities in the UK.

The UK’s largest canine welfare charity, Dogs Trust, has appointed a dedicated Scottish campaigns team to raise awareness and understanding of responsible dog ownership by engaging local authorities, the public and charity organisations across Scotland. Jennifer Terris joins Dogs Trust as campaigns manager, and brings a wealth of experience promoting animal welfare on behalf of local authorities. Jen is joined by campaigns officer Eleanor Upstill-Goddard, who will be pivotal in rolling out the team’s campaign initiatives and gathering useful data from the public. Both will be assisted by vet nurse Jillian Rose, who will provide medical expertise to the public, including health checks and microchipping for dogs.

Rosemarie Finley, an experienced and accomplished healthcare leader has been appointed chief executive of Myeloma UK. Finley is joining Myeloma UK from the Epilepsy Society, where she was acting chief executive and chief operating officer. She has more than 30 years of management experience in the healthcare sector. Myeloma UK is the only organisation in the UK dealing exclusively with myeloma, a type of blood cancer that affects plasma cells in the bone marrow.
