Janine Rennie will take on the new role
Money Advice Scotland has appointed Janine Rennie as its new CEO replacing previous lead Peter Costello who left the charity after a successful tenure to take up another post in the Scottish Third Sector.
Rennie who commences her role in June, has a strong track-record of leading organisations with a social purpose.
As CEO of Wellbeing Scotland for fifteen years, she drove its mission to advocate and care for the survivors of childhood abuse and sexual exploitation, growing the organisation to 100 staff and 150 volunteers and a budget of circa £2million.
Working with key stakeholders to ease the financial stresses and trauma experienced by the many people supported by Wellbeing Scotland was an essential facet of her role.
Training and education has also been a passion of Rennie’s, having overseen the roll-out of school counselling services across the country.
A qualified accountant at Fellow level, Janine most recently has been working in interim finance roles in addition to working as a local councillor in Clackmannanshire where she lives.
John Poole, chair of Money Advice Scotland, said: “This is an important and exciting time for Money Advice Scotland.
“More than ever before our mission of helping people in debt and supporting the vital work of Money Advisors is essential to communities across the country.
“Janine is ideally placed to secure this work while also broadening our reach with new partners and services.
“The impact and trauma of debt is far-reaching and Janine is experienced in building a coalition to affect change. We look forward to working with her.”
Janine Rennie added: “I am delighted to be joining Money Advice Scotland as CEO. It is an excellent organisation with so many opportunities ahead for us to help people in debt. I am looking forward to working with such a brilliant team.”
