Replacing her will be Bryony Foster
SAY Women has announced that chief executive officer (CEO) Pam Hunter (above left) will retire this summer, following six years of steadfast and impactful leadership.
Replacing her will be Bryony Foster (above right) - a respected and values-driven leader in the Scottish third sector.
Pam joined SAY Women in 2019 with a powerful vision for trauma-informed, rights-based support for young women affected by homelessness and childhood sexual abuse.
Over the past six years, she has led the organisation through a period of significant growth and transformation.
Under Pam’s leadership, SAY Women delivered vital services throughout the Covid-19 pandemic, built a strong and sustainable financial foundation, deepened its prevention and education work and strengthened its position as a national voice for young survivors.
The charity said Pam’s leadership has always been grounded in compassion and collaboration and her strategic thinking, unwavering belief in young women’s potential and commitment to challenging systemic injustice have made her a widely respected figure in the sector.
Prior to joining SAY Women, she served as CEO of Nexus NI and Scottish Sport Futures, championing gender-based violence prevention and youth empowerment.
Chair of the board Sam Barnett said: "On behalf of the board, I want to extend our heartfelt thanks to Pam for her remarkable leadership and unwavering dedication to SAY Women. Pam’s legacy will continue to inspire, and we wish you all the very best in your well-earned retirement”
The board said it is proud to announce that Bryony Foster has been appointed as the charity’s next CEO.
Bryony joined SAY Women in 2024 as service manager, bringing over 15 years of experience across the private, public and third sectors.
Her background includes senior roles in financial services, policy development and organisational strategy, with a strong emphasis on person-centred practice and systemic impact.
The charity said Bryony is recognised for her values-led leadership — rooted in authenticity, collaboration and justice. She has worked across youth, mental health and women’s services, leading multi-disciplinary teams and co-producing solutions alongside those most affected by inequality.
Bryony said: "It is a privilege to lead SAY Women. I look forward to building on our strong feminist ethos and evolving the organisation into an even bolder space — one where more young women are heard, supported, and empowered."
Pam will remain in post until July to ensure a smooth handover and continuity of leadership.
