The former ACOSVO is embarking on a new era
Scotland’s charity leadership body has a new name – but the same mission.
After 25 years of supporting, connecting and championing Scotland’s voluntary sector leaders, ACOSVO is embarking on a new era.
To mark this it has been re-named Charity Leadership Scotland.
This landmark change reflects the organisation’s bold vision for the future: to create new ways of thinking, learning, and leading that ensure Scotland’s charity leaders feel valued, respected and supported as they lead organisations that underpin and sustain society.
Katie Docherty, chair of the board of trustees, said: “Our new name is more than a rebrand. It is a commitment to Scotland’s charity leaders – to hold the space they deserve, to listen deeply, to learn collectively, and to work together towards solutions that strengthen our society.
“Charity Leadership Scotland embodies our aspiration to be modern, resilient, and inclusive – a true reflection of the community we serve.”
The decision follows extensive engagement across the sector, drawing on hundreds of stories shared by leaders over recent years. These voices highlighted both the immense pressures and challenges of leadership, and the deep sense of belonging, connection, and hope that exists within Scotland’s charitable sector.
As Charity Leadership Scotland, the organisation aims to amplify the collective strength and influence of charity leaders across Scotland and to modernise and evolve for the future while staying rooted in trust, authority, and collaboration.
The body says it will continue building powerful leadership connections, drawing on global expertise while meeting the unique needs of Scotland.
This new chapter aims to build firmly on the legacy of ACOSVO, recognising the critical role the organisation has played for over two decades in strengthening and highlighting charity leadership.
Chief executive Lucinda Godfrey said: “Scotland’s charity leaders are already an incredible group of people delivering extraordinary work.
“At Charity Leadership Scotland, we rise to meet their aspirations – to be bold, brave and to walk alongside them. Together, we are a community, a place to belong, and a force for positive change in Scotland.”
