Rough Trade will donate all profits from Bowie recordings to cancer Research for the rest of January following singer's death.
A record label is donating all profits from the sale of David Bowie recordings for the rest of the month to charity.
Rough Trade records, which has retails outlets and an online store, has said it will give cash from the sale of the singer’s work to Cancer Research UK.
The world was stunned on Monday morning when it was announced that Bowie had succumbed to cancer, aged 69.
In a tweet, the record label, once the home of The Smiths, said it was “honouring the artist. Not commodity. Fuck cancer.”
In a reply tweet, cancer Research UK welcomed Rough Trade’s move.
The gesture has proved popular with the record label's website being unable to cope with the demand of visits. Fans are asked to be patient and try again later if they encounter difficulties.
