The second Andy Murray Live event will feature Roger Federer in Glasgow's SSE Hydro

Andy Murray has announced he will play Roger Federer in an exciting evening of tennis and entertainment, to raise money for charity.

The world number one announced he is to take on the 18-time grand slam champion in Glasgow in November in aid of Unicef and one local Scottish charity which is yet to be named.

Following the singles match against Federer, who is making his first appearance in Scotland, Murray will be joined by brother Jamie to take on Tim Henman and Mansour Bahrami in a more relaxed doubles challenge.

Tickets went on sale today (Thursday), with half of all seats costing just £25. Last year tickets sold out within 48-hours and demand this year is expected to be even higher.

Murray, who is a Unicef UK ambassador, has partnered with Eurosport, to broadcast the event exclusively across the United Kingdom, Europe and around the world giving even more exposure to the charities.

Murray said: “Last year was such a fantastic night and to raise over £300,000 for Unicef and Young People’s Futures in our first year was amazing.

“This year is going to be even bigger and better and I am so pleased to be able to bring Roger to play in Scotland for the first time – he will get a chance to see for himself just how enthusiastic Scottish fans are, and what a great venue The SSE Hydro is.

“It is also important for me to be able support Unicef again this year, and to help a different local charity as well."

Mark Devlin, Unicef UK’s chief operating officer, said: “Following the success of last year’s fantastic Andy Murray Live event, we are thrilled that it’s taking place for a second year.

“As a Unicef UK ambassador, Andy has shown an amazing commitment to helping children in danger, and we are so proud to once again have his support for our vital work.

“The event will help raise awareness and much-needed funds for children in emergencies all around the world, including those caught up in the current refugee crisis.

“The money raised will help Unicef provide children with immediate, life-saving care, protection and supplies, as well as lasting support to help families rebuild their lives.”

As an 81 year old playing tennis every week I am so very disappointed not to be lucky enough to get a ticket. Can't afford the extortionate prices being asked for now.
