The Homeless Veterans Project says it will run out of money within months

A charity has made a plea for funding as it faces closures.

The Homeless Veterans Project provides temporary housing for eight ex-servicemen with mental health problems in Dundonald, Ayrshire.

The charity says it faces collapse with only enough funds in the bank to pay rent for its properties for a few months.

Project worker Donna Armstrong told the Daily Record that the financial situation is desperate for the organisation.

“These guys served our country and have PTSD, so this instability is not good for them,” she said.

“We need monthly donations from people during this time as we cannot actively fundraise. It’s a labour of love for me as some of my family served in the military.

“We have enough money to pay the rent for the next few months. We also usually pay for training courses, help with work clothing and other needs to help them get settled. But we can’t do this now as we need to make sure we can cover the basic bills.”
