Share a bike with Bono in Central Park - seen of his infamous tumble
U2 frontman Bono is offering to fly two people out to New York to share a bike ride with him through the city’s Central Park, sharing stories along the way and being put up in a luxury hotel.
A little over a year after he underwent surgery following a cycling accident in the very same place, the U2 frontman is bravely getting back on the bike to offer fans the unique opportunity to share a ride with him through the iconic park.
In conjunction with Red, a charity dedicated to fighting Aids, two grand prize winners can score a trip to New York (airfare and four-star hotel stay included) complete with a bicycle tour and ice cream at the end of the ride.
In the video the rock star says playfully: “Life knocks us down, we get back up. Forget about jumping out of a plane, scaling Mount Everest. Join me and really live on the edge.
"We’ll ride, we’ll laugh, we’ll snap a few selfies, talk about our favorite albums, geo-politics, and I’ll tell you what it’s like to suffer a facial fracture involving the orbit of your eye, and having your elbow redone in titanium.
"And enduring the torture of 18 months of physical therapy with a Satanic German physio. Good times.”
Fans can enter the contest by donating to (RED) through fundraising platform Omaze. Each time you donate, you earn a certain number of ballots towards winning the Bono bicycle tour grand prize – $10 gets you 100 entries, $100 gets you 1,000 entries, and so forth.
Bonus rewards are also offered depending on the generosity of your donation, from t-shirts and handwritten lyrics to autographed guitars, VIP concert tickets or a meet-and-greet with Bono.
