Managing long term absences and employment law update
SCVO
Everyone, at some point, will be too sick to go to work. This session is going to delve into the practicalities of managing absences, get you thinking about complex situations, talk about strategies to reduce absence levels and how you can support employees through their period of ill health.
OverviewWhen an employee is off sick long term, it can be challenging to know how to manage the situation effectively. How often do you keep in touch? What happens when they run out of sick pay? How do you deal with it when work is their reason for being off? This webinar with SCVO's HR service team will help to answer these questions and more.
Overall aimThe aim of this webinar is to provide pragmatic guidance on managing long term absences, and give a general update on employment legislation.
By the end of the session, you will:
- Use your judgement when making decisions about complex long term absences
- Use your absence management policy effectively (if you don't have one, we will provide a template)
- Have confidence in discussing reasonable adjustments and medical referrals like occupational health assessments
- Consider strategies to reduce absence levels
- Be aware of upcoming employment law changes and what actions to take to get ready for them
This webinar is aimed at anyone with a responsibility for managing employees, whether you are a supervisor, line manager, senior manager or board member/trustee.
