Benefit basics in Scotland
CPAG in Scotland
You do not need to be a benefit expert to make a difference. This course is for anyone working with people in Scotland on low incomes or with additional needs. You will learn the basics of social security and be able to identify which benefits are available to the people you work with. You will understand the key life events that can have an impact on benefit entitlement and recognise when someone should make a new claim or report a change in circumstances.
The course covers:
The UK and Scottish social security systems
Universal credit basics
Disability and carers’ benefits
Scottish Welfare Fund’s crisis grants and community care grants
