Talk About Climate Change...Without Saying 1.5C
Scottish Communities Climate Action Network (SCCAN)
This event is in the past
We need a range of strategies to communicate with different people about climate change. Some people want the science, the statistics, the reports, while others might find the science confusing and alienating.
What language do you use to talk about climate change? Are you trying to engage new people with your climate action projects? Are you struggling to get people on board at work with a climate-friendly initiative?
In this one hour session we’ll explore some of the language that research shows to be most effective for communicating about climate change; we'll look at phrases and words that are more likely to be relevant to peoples lives. There’s no single or easy answer – so if you’ve found something that’s worked for you come and share it with us!
The session is fully interactive, with a short presentation, and a discussion of different approaches.
About the presenter: Kirsty Heron is Programme Lead for SCCAN's Climate for Change programme. She is motivated by ways of communicating that build bridges between people to find common ground and a hope for the future.
