Breaking Big Oil's grip: With the founder of the Fossil Fuel Treaty
Global Justice Now
We’re delighted to welcome Canadian environmental campaigner Tzeporah Berman, founder of the Fossil Fuel Non-Proliferation Treaty Initiative to Edinburgh to speak about this ground-breaking global plan to halt the expansion of fossil fuels, manage an equitable phase-out, and lay the foundations for a true just energy transition across the world in which no worker, community or country is left behind.
Come and hear Tzeporah speak about how the idea for this global treaty came about, how the campaign for the treaty has grown over its five years of life, where she expects things to go from here.
Tzeporah has been designing and winning campaigns in Canada and internationally for 30 years. She is the co-founder and International Program Director at Stand.earth and the former co-director of Greenpeace International’s Climate Energy Programme. She publishes and speaks widely on fossil fuels and climate change, and is the author of This Crazy Time: Living Our Environmental Challenge. In 2019, Tzeporah was awarded the Climate Breakthrough Award to develop a bold new global climate strategy and in 2024 she was named among TIME’s 100 Most Influential Climate Leaders.
