Claimants and custody

CPAG in Scotland

A period spent in prison – on remand or serving a sentence – can have far-reaching consequences for social security benefit entitlement, both for the person in prison and for their family. If you advise prisoners or their families about benefit entitlement, then this course will help you navigate this complex area. The course uses case studies to illustrate the impact of prison on the benefits most commonly affected. By the end you should feel more confident in advising on the issues that most frequently come up for this group.
