Feathered Friends Exhibition

Project Ability

Feathered Friends is Project Ability’s annual Christmas fundraising exhibition, celebrating the talent, creativity, and unique perspectives of artists working in our supported studio, and beyond. This year’s theme takes flight with a vibrant exploration of birds, creatures that have long captured the human imagination with their beauty, symbolism, and freedom. Featuring over 60 artworks, the exhibition brings together painting, drawing, print, photography, sculpture and mixed media, each piece offering a fresh and personal interpretation of our feathered companions.

The majority of the works on show have been created by artists who work year-round in our Glasgow studio, supported by Project Ability’s inclusive arts programme. We have three strands to our studio programme; Aspire, for adults with learning disabilities, ReConnect for artists with lived experience of mental ill health, and Create, our studio programme for young people with learning disabilities and/or complex support needs. Their voices are central to this joyful and thoughtful collection.

This year we also opened the call to artists from across the country, and beyond, inviting anyone, anywhere to submit bird themed artwork for consideration. An independent panel of four external jurors was tasked with selecting the final pieces, resulting in a diverse and inspiring exhibition that celebrates inclusion, creativity, and community. All works are for sale, with proceeds supporting the artists and the continued work of Project Ability. Feathered Friends is not only a showcase of artistic talent, it’s a chance to support something meaningful this festive season.

We’ve teamed up with the RSPB to help highlight the great work they do for birds! They will set up an information area in our shop during the exhibition for anyone wanting to learn a bit more about our feathered friends. They’ve also generously donated some merchandise which we will be giving away at the reception!

All works are available for sale, with proceeds going directly to support the artists and the ongoing work of Project Ability. Feathered Friends is not only a celebration of artistic talent, it’s an opportunity to give meaningful support this festive season.
