Mediator and Mediation Skills Training course

Cyrenians Scottish Centre for Conflict Resolution

Does conflict resolution interest you? Are you seeking to refine your mediation skills or to embark on a new journey towards becoming a mediator? Whatever the case, there’s an exciting new professional Mediator and Mediation Skills Training course offered by Cyrenians Scottish Centre for Conflict Resolution.

Kicking off on Monday, 20 October the four-week Mediator an Mediation Skills Training course is a training program that not only equips you with the latest in mediation theory and practice but also offers a supportive environment for honing your skills. The course takes place at STEP Stirling, Stirling Enterprise Park.

This course reflects the current landscape of mediation and conflict resolution. The innovative approach of this course follows a structured model, merging theory with practice through information dissemination, small group skill-building exercises, and engaging discussions. This method empowers individuals to nurture skills relevant to their present circumstances and future aspirations.

The course begins with insightful pre-training reflections, progresses through practical skill development, and culminates in a post-training reflective journal, encapsulating your learning experience.

Prior to each training day, we will send you details of what will be included in the next session. The training is broken down like so:

Principles and practice of mediation

Stages of the mediation process

Ethics and values of mediation

Communication skills used in mediation

Negotiation skills and their application

The effects of conflict and ways of managing it

How trauma impacts mediation

Diversity and mediation

By the end of the program, participants emerge with a deep understanding of mediation theories, a reflective insight into conflict, and tangible practical skills crucial for conflict resolution. Accredited by Scottish Mediation, the course requires attendance at all four training days and an assessment.
